well when I started reading that I thought “oh well I can relate to that stress…student …crappy job…stressful home life” but I’m sorry to say that as I kept reading I felt less and less like I could offer you any advice. The only thing I can say is that what doesn’t kill you will make you stronger, and in a couple of years when you are done with school and in a job you love you will look back and see this time as a time in your life that made you strong. And I’m online a lot so my IM name is on my answers if you feel like you need to talk! I can’t tell you much but I can listen!
The very first time I walked into a counselor’s office was when my responsibilities, obligations, finances and situation was heavy like yours is today. ( I went to a church, for little or no fee)
What the counselor had me do, was to prioritize.
Write down your list.
First goal for you is to eat adequately, sleep regularly, and do get even just a few minutes to yourself — every day. Once you lose your health the whole pyramid tumbles
Is anything optional – or something that can be done at a later time? School and all the homework that goes with the classes? For this semester, it would open up time and lift off some pressure. Anything else? Household chores?
Attending to the ill parent? Is any of this something your husband can pick up as part of his load?
Think in these terms. If nothing changes, you will likely have the breakdown, and it would be months before you are functional again. Coming back from a breakdown is much harder than it sounds.
If a few things change you may be able to keep your health, riding the stressful wave through these rocky months, but remaining more than 50% functional from what you’re doing today.
You are on campus – make an appointment with their counseling office or health clinic for another perspective.
THERE IS HOPE.
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road your trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and its turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When they might have won, had they stuck it out.
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victors cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when your hardest hit,
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit!
