My car caught fire not long after a service, how should i view my service garage?
I was pushing a 10 year aged automobile for a usually over a year as good as it had served me good carrying no breakdowns or any automatic problems. we did not need to do any repairs or anything as good as it was portion me well.
I afterwards gathering it though H2O for a couple of days as good as a gasket burnt out. My internal garage charged me £300 to correct this. 2 weeks after we additionally got a use finished by them.
Since they worked upon it a automobile appear to be experiencig problems. A month after a use it held glow from i’m guessing leakage. To be satisfactory after a use a automechanic did suggest me to sell a automobile however saying which he serviced a automobile as good as it burnt out a month after it creates me consternation about his credibility. we hadn’t treated with colour a automobile really bad after a service.
Do we censure a actuality which a automobile was aged upon a contingent drop or does a actuality which i outlayed £500 covering a gasket as good as afterwards use usually to see it bake after meant a garage we went to is a joke. What do we have of all this?
Thanks
Brian, as explained we payed out of my nose for a correct as good as subsequently proposed treating my automobile right, so we do not see because it should’ve catched fire.
The use might not have caused a damage, though shouldn’t a automechanic have been means to brand problems would start given we hadn’t been treating a automobile really bad any more so a automechanic should’ve seen something wrong with a car. thanks

you started the problem by running it without water. a regular service wouldn’t cause a leak anywhere that would catch the car on fire.
With an older car problems can come up one wright after anouther.
You would have to know wright where it was leaking and if the garage was any were nere that spot.
If the garage worked on the back bumper and the front bumber fell off the garage shouldn’t be held responsable just because it’s a bumper
As far as I can tell, the mechanic gave you good advice – you should have sold the car.
You did the damage. They tried to repair it. What do I make of it? That you need to take better care of your vehicles and stop trying to pass the blame onto others for your negligence.
Running out of water is certainly not a good thing. You probably had a great deal of collateral damage even though the car could start. You probably had whole buffet of weaknesses, starting with a warped/weakened intake manifold, heads and gaskets, may have scored the piston walls. The latter would have caused the engine to overheat.
When you super heat the engine…all bets are off after that. Anything could go.
However, catching fire is not outside the laws of probability, but not high on it. Was it electrical? Good Gravy…that could have it’s roots in the heat too.
Don’t blame the garage too much. I hate to say, but after the repair you were on death bed lotto anyway.
Good Luck,.
