Well, this may not be an honest thing to do, but it does work. This is assuming you or the insurance company has the VIN number written down. Contact the clerk of the district court in your area and ask about putting a lean on the car that hit you. You’ll need proof of the accident, and bring any repair billing statements to determine the cost of the lean. If it’s approve, the registration and title of the car will be frozen and they will have a new lawn ornament. If you can contact the owner and tell them (or warn them) that your going through with this, they will usually call up the insurance company and negotiate the terms.
My suggestion is that you have a copy of all of the information that you give him, and if he is a nervous wreck for much longer than you should think about changing attorneys. If he breaks down with you calling so much, then how would he be able to handle dealing with the court and the person that hit you?
Get a new lawyer. If I thought my lawyer was incompetent or stalling or playing games, I would be looking for a new one and I wouldn’t wait 2 years to do it.
